Underwriter

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing broking team as a Property Scheme Underwriter with delegated authority for Axa.

The role will be responsible for the operation of the delegated authority facility whilst delivering a high quality service to all staff who require access.

You will also provide excellent client service and support with the administration of the scheme.

What you will do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities.

Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all the following and more:

• Underwrite new business, renewals, MTA's by producing terms and converting and retaining acceptable business. This should at all times be geared to achieving the businesses annual target loss ratios.
• Comply with Binder, procedures and personal underwriting authority level.
• Achieve personal and business objectives for GWP and Loss Ratio.
• Work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation.
• Build and maintain effective insurer relationships.
• Resolve or progress complaints effectively.
• Identify and raise opportunities for practical improvements in the business area.
• Maintain and develop personal knowledge and skills through continued professional development.

What experience does our Scheme Underwriter need?
It's essential that you have property insurance experience either with a broker or Insurer, experience of underwriting and a sound understanding of risk

You will also need:

• Insurance market and delegated authority schemes knowledge.
• Understanding of divisional process and procedures together with strong and effective administration and delegation.
• Open GI experience would also be extremely beneficial, or alternative broking software
• Ideally Cert CII or CII Diploma or progression towards a recognised qualification, although not essential. However, a desire to pursue such qualifications is preferred and can be supported.
