London, Greater London, United Kingdom Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust Full time
Westminster CAMHS is a very warm & friendly team which welcomes new skills and new ideas. It is part of Central & North West London (CNWL) Foundation Mental Health Trust. We are committed to collaborative multi-disciplinary work and there are very good links with partnership agencies in the borough.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 CAMHS YJS Practitioner to join Westminster Youth Justice Service.

This is a community-based post, located within the Westminster Youth Justice Service (YJS) for 3 days (Westminster YJS, 101 Orchardson Street, London, NW8 8EA) and Westminster CAMHS (7a Woodfield road, London W9 2NW) for 2 days where you will be part of the Early Intervention pathway.

Interview:
Wednesday 20th September, in person interview ( 101 Orchardson Street, London, NW8 8EA / Tom Foster )

Vaccination

As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

As a CAMHS Lead you will help young people build a life away from crime.

By working with young people involved in the Criminal Justice System you will share our ethos that everyone has the capacity to change.

Working closely with young people to understand their needs and vulnerabilities, you will help explore new avenues and treatment to ensure that they succeed in life.

To be part of this forward-thinking team, and you will be supported to implement innovative new ways of working through a trauma informed 'lens'.

With the support of the Youth Justice Board (YJB) and Department for Education (DfE), Westminster Youth Justice Service has been one of the 3 YJS across the country to be given permission to trial a new alternative systemic assessment.

This is a role in which you will be encouraged to explore your most ambitious ideas.

You will be part of a transformative YJS that strives to meet the changing needs of young people and families in the area.

They are committed to systemic practice and are addressing the root causes of offending - such as poor educational experiences and lack of employment prospects and underlying mental health undiagnosed needs and we are shaping better outcomes for our most complex young people.

You will be part of a YJS that received praise in a 2020 SEND inspection assessing practice across social care, family services and schools.

They have also been awarded the Quality Kite Mark for their SEN approach.

Westminster is a culturally diverse borough and we are keen to provide culturally appropriate services to families.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, flexible and committed clinician, who has good CAMHS experience and is able to integrate quickly into a busy CAMHS team and YJS.

  • Undertaking health & communication screenings, assessments and treatment interventions with young people referred through the YJS, and signposting to other specialist services as required.
  • Be competent in assessing and managing risk, including clinical as well as generic risk assessment and management.
  • Provide treatment in a range of settings as determined by need, working collaboratively across the CAMHS directorate and partnership agencies.
  • Continually delivering and maintaining high standards of service provision that is evidence based and in line with recognised best practice.
  • Building trusting and positive therapeutic relationships to ensure service user involvement during the assessment and treatment process.
  • Participating and leading in joint complex assessments with other disciplines and other agencies and providing reports for referrers, families and other agencies as required.
  • Convening and attending team meetings, case conferences, etc. as required.
  • Providing consultation, liaison and specialist advice to other professionals, agencies and services.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of child mental health related training programmes
