HGV Driver

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To complete daily delivery and collections of equipment and supplies.

Working alongside the operations team to ensure all orders are loaded as instructed by the work schedules.


Maintain a high standard of driving and to ensure the company assets are checked daily and defects are reported as per company procedures.


DUTIES:

Driving Duties

  • Responsible for ensuring vehicles are loaded referencing the daily schedule.
  • Complete checks prior to departure to ensure all goods are present.
  • Daily trips must commence at the time requested to ensure agreed delivery and collection times are adhered to.
  • All paperwork must be completed on delivery and collection.
  • All equipment unable to collect as instructed must be noted on all paperwork.
  • Report any nondeliveries/collection or delays immediately.
  • Accountable for the standard of the delivery vehicle appearance inside and out.

Driver Safety

  • Adhere to road traffic rules and speed limits at all times.
  • Work to the loading and unloading matrix when loading and unloading the vehicle to ensure loads are safely secure and safely off loaded.
  • Responsible for completing daily checks and reporting all defects to management.
  • Ensure vehicles do not exceed safe working load limit.
  • Attend driver safety training as and when requested.

Health and Safety

  • Complete tasks in accordance with risk assessments, notify management of any potential noncompliance.
  • Report accidents and near misses using the correct methods.
  • Attend depots and sites in a professional manner and adhere to each site specific rules and guidance including PPE requirements.
  • Maintain excellent levels of housekeeping, ensure areas are free from waste and trip hazards etc.

Quality

  • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by providing suggestions and feedback to Management.
  • Work to agreed timescales updating management on progress. Maintain good communication with Management at all times.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Full UK Driving Licence and experience of UK road network
  • Minimum HGV Category C driving licence
  • Hold a Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC)
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, secure various load types
  • Experience of customer service

Pay:
£15.82 per hour

Expected hours:
No less than 39 per week
