For a world-class University and Health Research Institute, we are recruiting a Finance Manager.

A key member of the management team, the Finance Manager will manage all day-to-day financial management for the Institute at strategic and operational levelas well as research grant management and will lead a high-performing team of 6 staff including training and development.


What you'll be doing:

  • Lead on annual planning and budgeting for the Institute including forecasting returns, month and yearend returns and monthly variance analysis with the management accounts team
  • Use MI tools including Tableau, to produce insightful analysis support management decisions
  • Develop business cases for capital projects, investment appraisals and scenario analysis
  • Act as the key Finance Business partner to the Institute Director, Department Managers, Executive leadership, Clinical and Academic staff
  • Leda a highperforming team, delivering training and coaching including nonfinance staff
  • Play a lead role in the Faculty Finance Network
  • Report on actual and forecast expenditure for Charity Grants, and Research Centre funds, ensuring expenditure is costed robustly
  • Oversee contracts, joint venture services, partners and funding bodies regarding the financial management of grants and donations
  • Act as Treasurer to the Charity Foundation

What you'll offer us:

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
  • Strong business partnering, budget management, FP&A, reconciliation, and management accounting experience
  • Trackrecord of successful line management and development of staff
  • Ideally experience of Research, Higher Education and / or the NHS
  • Significant stakeholder influencing and partnering senior managers in complex organisations
