To be responsible for supporting the GIRFT & Health Inequalities workstream across the Trust. Ensuring that information and/or assistance is provided to relevant staff as required, working closely with staff at all levels to support and promote real and lasting improvements in patient care.

To carry out day-to-day operation of the administration for the GIRFT & Health Inequalities workstream and provide effective and efficient administrative support for the staff working in the service.

The post holder can work from either Worthing Hospital or the Royal Sussex County Hospital, but may be required to travel across all Trust Sites.

Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities

To carry out day-to-day operation of the administration for the GIRFT & Health Inequalities Portfolio (including managing trackers), providing effective and efficient administrative support for the staff working in the service and including administration of relevant software used within Clinical Outcomes & Effectiveness team. Administer meetings within the GIRFT & Health Inequalities portfolio as required, preparing agendas, minutes and other relevant papers including action trackers. To support mechanisms for implementing the presentation of valid, robust data which will support and inform the clinical decision-making processes. To assist in the assessment, production and dissemination of information supporting the GIRFT & Health Inequalities portfolio in line with Trust Clinical Governance arrangements, including maintaining and updating electronic and any other notice boards related to the service. To maintain the resources of the Clinical Outcomes & Effectiveness Portfolio, this may include an internal library and files. Extracts data as needed from designated data sources for GIRFT & Health Inequalities to enable preparation of data reports for Trust Groups, Committees and Divisional Management Teams on behalf of Clinical Outcomes & Effectiveness Leads. Contributes to collation and analysis of data for GIRFT & Health Inequalities compliance, including for submission to external organisations. Contributes to assessing risks to systems, processes and the work environment relating to GIRFT & Health Inequalities. Assists in the development, management and communication of project plans. Maintains and updates, as needed, policy and procedure manuals, publications, reports, and other documents used by the GIRFT & Heath Inequalities Portfolio, contributing to the development and proposing changes to the working practices of the service.

Experience / Qualifications

Essential

Evidence of a good general education. Demonstrates basic good numerical and English comprehension skills including GCSE or equivalent in English and Math NVQ level 4 or equivalent level of experience

Excellent communication skills verbal and written Excellent organisational skills to manage own workload and assist team to operate service Ability to take notes and transcribe minutes to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and minimal amendments. Accurate keyboard / word-processing skills Knowledge of information governance and data protection requirements and best practices. Experience in planning and delivering work with minimum oversight Experience working in an office in a complex work environment Proficient in developing productive working relationships with a wide range of professional and managerial staff in an organisation. Previous experience of evaluation of data and reports. Demonstrable interpersonal skills Use of standard software packages, eg, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, internet access, email Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues

Desirable

Knowledge of current NHS national policies, and regulatory standards, requirements and directions that relate to measuring and improving the quality and safety of patient care. Understanding of clinical and operational processes in a hospital. Previous experience of implementing training processes. Knowledge of the role of GIRFT & Health Inequalities in improving the quality of care and clinical governance
