Mettiamo al bando i luoghi comuni per una volta: credi davvero che, solo per il fatto di avere formalmente sul tuo biglietto da visita, la parola Manager questo faccia di te un vero Manager con la M maiuscola? Non fermarti a questo stereotipo e pensa invece se realmente possiedi 3 indiscusse qualità di Management che possono renderti orgoglioso di ricoprire effettivamente questa posizione, e che potrebbero portarti in alto in un processo di ricerca di personale qualificato.
Le 3 qualità indiscusse di un buon manager
1) Sei un buon ascoltatore?
Preferisci limitarti con i tuoi collaboratori a discorsi di routine oppure dedichi tempo ad ascoltarli e ad imparare anche dalle altre persone intorno a te? Ascoltare è un'attività difficile ma è il modo efficace per prevenire determinati problemi, e non essere costretti a curarli a posteriori. Se sono altre persone a parlarci, ascoltarle con attenzione ci può aiutare a cogliere importanti chiavi di lettura delle situazioni. Sei un ascoltatore attivo se ogni tanto annuisci dando un segno di attenzione e di partecipazione a quanto l'interlocutore ti sta esponendo, se ripeti parole da lui utilizzate.
In questo modo fai capire che hai messo a fuoco quanto ti è appena stato presentato e che gli dai valore. Guardare negli occhi è sempre meglio che lasciare andare lo sguardo verso orizzonti inesistenti: chi ci parla ha bisogno del nostro feedback razionale ed emotivo , sia per gli aspetti professionali della discussione che quelli umani legati alla soddisfazione, al sentirsi capiti, e che quindi portano alla motivazione, fattore fondamentale nel rapporto Manager/collaboratore.
2) Percepisci l'aspetto emotivo dei tuoi collaboratori?
Se sei davvero un Manager conosci l'ansia che nasce dalle difficoltà , sai riconoscere lo sgomento altrui di fronte alle emergenze, a progetti complessi da svolgere magari il venerdì pomeriggio per il lunedì mattina. Un buon Manager ascolta, supporta ed affianca il suo team, senza assumere atteggiamenti da "Boss" con decisioni top-down che lasciano attoniti i collaboratori, certo non stimolati in tal modo a dare il meglio di se. E' fondamentale ispirare il team ad avere una attitudine " Think positive " , condividere pregresse esperienze professionali di successo, per tirar fuori dai collaboratori the best of in ogni situazione, anche la più critica ed apparentemente destinata ad un fallimento. Questo atteggiamento farà arrivare il messaggio che, comunque andrà, è meglio dare il massimo fino alla fine piuttosto che non provarci neanche. Il Manager resiste sul Titanic fino alla fine, non salta sulla prima scialuppa di salvataggio.
3) Hai un occhio interno?
Un vero Manager non ha solo gloria ed onori, benefit e stipendi stratosferici. Deve essere un leader "illuminato" con competenze forti e multiple skills:
Dedichi tempo alla pianificazione delle attività e alla gestione delle risorse?
Sei attento alla comunicazione verso il tuo team ed il resto dell'azienda?
Sai delegare o credi nel one man show?
Condividi gli obiettivi ed i risultati con i tuoi collaboratori?
Fai sentire tutti parte unica ed preziosa di ogni mission, anche le più impossible?
Anche Napoleone farebbe tesoro di questi consigli per evitare una Waterloo.
Se un Manager non analizza con spirito critico innanzitutto il suo comportamento, il suo stile di management, se non pensa a come migliorarsi, non può poi riversare sui suoi collaboratori difficoltà, frustrazioni, ed insuccessi. Un vero Manager lavora su se stesso in un'ottica di perfezionamento continuo, ed è anche capace di ammettere i propri errori. Solo cosi acquisisce credibilità ed autorevolezza con la sua squadra. Solo cosi diventa Mentor, supporto nelle competenze, nella trasmissione dell'esperienza, nell'integrazione della cultura aziendale , in poche parole un vero Manager con la M maiuscola.
