London, Greater London, United Kingdom Penguin Books Limited Full time

Are you organised and great with data? A new opportunity has arisen for a detail-orientated individual to support the Inventory Management team as Inventory Assistant on a permanent basis.

About the team

The Inventory Management team collaborates with colleagues within Publishing Operations and across Sales, Production, Finance, and our Publishing Houses to maintain the correct stock levels for every one of our titles throughout their lifecycle.

The team plays a critical role in managing relationships with our distribution colleagues and our external partners to ensure the efficient distribution of our books.

The opportunity
In this role you will support several colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the Inventory Management team.

This is a busy and varied role and your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing our Print on Demand programme
  • Ensuring good housekeeping of internal systems (including SAP and Biblio) and updating them with correct and up to date Inventory data
  • Running daily, weekly and monthly reports to track information such as stock levels and out of stock titles
  • Supporting the nontrade and Inventory teams by coordinating the reserved stock processes across all divisions
  • Supporting the Inventory Managers on matters relating to stock holding and reprints, including tasks relating to the automated reprint programme
  • Assisting with local prints for group territories, across all divisions
  • Carrying out other ad hoc team support when needed.

What you'll bring
We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills who can multi-task whilst maintaining attention to detail. You will need to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and be able to prioritise your workload effectively.

You will be working with a variety of different systems, so whilst we will be more than happy to introduce you to our world and provide training, you will show us that you are comfortable with technology and keen to learn.

You will need to have worked with MS Office before; Excel skills would be particularly useful.

How to apply

What you can expect from us:

Salary:
You'll start on £26,500. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role to reflect your growing contribution.

Our employees are the heart of our business.

We have a range of benefits to reflect our commitment to our employees, some of which are:

  • 27 days paid holiday entitlement in year one (plus bank holidays), increasing a day each year up to 30 days
  • Medical cover
  • Life assurance
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Summer working hours (role dependent)
  • Volunteering policy and charity matching
  • Employee Assistance programme
  • Mentoring programme
  • Extended gender neutral parental leave
  • Access to books and eBooks across Penguin Random House UK
  • Each site has trained mental health first aiders
  • We plant a tree for every new employee to our business

Our creativity is inspired by different perspectives, so we want our culture to be one of belonging, where everyone feels welcome and where differences are celebrated.
Please note, we are not able to accept agency CVs for this role. Any CVs sent speculatively will not be eligible for a fee.
