Job Title: Category Manager at NHS Supply Chain

We are currently looking for a Category Manager to join our Commercial team at NHS Supply Chain, focusing on the IT Category. This role plays a crucial part in leading and transforming nationally critical categories. As a Category Manager, you will collaborate with other team members to set the vision, direction, and culture for the teams, facilitating growth and introducing best practices for effective category management. Your role will be instrumental in driving strategic delivery and necessitates agile thinking, creativity, and the ability to perform under pressure to deliver priorities efficiently.

The Category Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance the supply chain, mitigate risks, gain competitive advantage, and achieve cost savings. By working closely with key stakeholders, you will create product groups that bring value to both NHS customers and NHS Supply Chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage category plans in line with commercial strategy to achieve synergies and optimize category delivery.
  • Stay updated on external developments and assess their potential impact on the organization.
  • Resolve customer queries by providing information and policy interpretation.
  • Set clear objectives for each category and engage with customers effectively.
  • Conduct research, analyze data trends, and identify key themes and trends.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance performance.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have a high level of education, experience in IT Category Management, and a proven track record of leading teams. Candidates without CIPS qualification must be willing to work towards it while in the role.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to provide guidance on expressing ideas clearly.
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to obtain consensus between parties with different interests.
  • Capability to develop plans based on recommendations and requirements.
