This is an exciting opportunity to support staff and students in the Warwick Mathematics Institute and Department of Statistics to use academic technology for teaching, learning and assessment.

The role will integrate and build on the practices developed before and during the pandemic. This role is campus-based, with requirements to hot-desk between the two departments, also opportunity for hybrid working.


The post-holder will be experienced at using and supporting digital learning systems, enthusiastic about expanding their use in a Higher Education context and have a flexible approach to adapt to the context.

JOB PURPOSE


To enable academic technology to be used effectively for teaching and learning in the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics to deliver a high standard of student experience with robust quality assurance.


The post-holder will provide support and guidance to staff and students in the Department of Statistics and Warwick Mathematics Institute (Mathematical Sciences).

They will work with the Senior Academic Technologist (Mathematical Sciences) to implement and maintain departmental policies and processes for academic technology.

They will manage delivery of key functions and systems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support and enable stakeholders to utilise academic technology effectively in the Mathematical Sciences.
a. Promote the appropriate use of University-provided technologies and services in support of teaching, learning and assessment.

b. Champion new approaches to the use of technology in education, working with academic staff to embed within normal practices.

c. Provide expertise and an advisory and coaching service in the use of technology to support education.

d.

Deliver communication, documentation, and training to support the implementation of digital learning practices in Mathematical Sciences, liaising with the central academic technology team and making effective use of available resources.

e. Support students to interact effectively with digital learning systems via guides, training resources, and localised support.

2. Implement technological solutions and processes that support Mathematical Sciences' education strategy.
a.

Manage delivery of assessments using appropriate technologies, liaising with teaching staff and considering pedagogical aims, quality assurance and student experience.

b.

Develop and maintain efficient and effective processes, practices and infrastructure to support teaching staff to deliver digital learning in Mathematical Sciences.

c.

Act as an expert source of information, advice and guidance for the administration of the courses in Mathematical Sciences where this interfaces with digital learning (for example transfer of grades from a VLE to a marks management system).

d.

Provide key support to projects to implement the adoption of technology in support of teaching and learning activities and capabilities, working effectively with all contributors to the provision of solutions.


3. Work with departmental and central support colleagues to develop knowledge, skills and provision.
a. Contribute to wider community of Academic Technology around the university, providing feedback and sharing knowledge and resources as appropriate.

b. Deputise for, and support, the Senior Academic Technologist by attending and contributing to meetings, workshops and events as appropriate.

c. Ensure knowledge of appropriate technologies, approaches and methods are maintained via continuous professional development.
