Our Dukes Golf Course plays host to an outstanding 5* Championship Golf Course, situated on the edge of St Andrews.

We currently have a vacancy for an Apprentice Greenkeepers to support with the maintenance and development of our Dukes Golf Course and the surrounding estate.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • To maintain the course, practice facilities and surrounding estate to the standards defined in the course maintenance & development plan by carrying out the weekly work programmes set by the Head Green keeper.
  • To follow the safe working practices implemented by senior team members ensuring the safety of all golfers, staff, and contractors.

Key tasks:

  • To implement daily work programmes as devised and instructed by the Head Greenkeeper.
  • Use of Pedestrian & Ride on Machinery.
  • Bunker Maintenance
  • To actively participate in daily operations meetings.
  • To ensure personal protective equipment and uniforms are maintained to the standard required.
  • To regularly assess play and traffic areas on the course; pedestrian and vehicle access routes and reporting any areas of concern.
  • To participate in regular Personal Performance Reviews according to the policy of the Company.
Training Provided

  • SVQ level 2 Sports Turf & PA1/2/6A via SRUC Elmwood.

Qualifications:

  • National 5 in Maths and English
Experience

  • No experience requires, however an interest in golf and working outdoors is preferable.
Personal

  • Able to communicate with all team members.
  • Committed to a career in turf management.
  • Prepared to work antisocial hours.
  • Good personal presentation.
  • Driving Licence or local (due to 6am start times).

Salary
This is a two-year work-based Modern Apprenticeship working 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. There is an element of weekend working and early starts may be required.

A starting salary of £25,705.68 is offered for Year 1 and will be reviewed for Year 2, depending on progress, plus fully funded training and an excellent range of benefits.
