Lapal House is a beautiful residential care home set in extensive grounds in Lapal, Halesowen and provides a high quality of person-centred care and support to our 38 residents.


The successful applicant will be employed on a part time basis but would also be asked to cover sickness and holidays where possible.

Reporting to the Home Manager you will be an organised and helpful leader in a busy kitchen environment.

You will be responsible for organising, preparing and serving appetising and freshly produced food, whilst maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and health and safety.


As a Cook you will be responsible for:

  • preparing and serving meals and beverages as required.
- preparing the dining room for the serving of meals
- working in accordance with the homes policies and procedures
- carrying out kitchen duties ensuring a high standard of hygiene at all times.
- using resources effectively and ordering food.
- reporting any issues or matters raised by service users concerning catering to the Care Manager
- attending mandatory and in house training as required
- understanding COSHH
- maintaining cleanliness and hygiene records as required


Experience within a similar role would be advantageous but not essential as full relevant training will be provided for the successful applicant.


Cook it is preferable for you to have:

  • Minimum qualification NVQ Level 2 or 706/2 in Catering, Basic or Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate
  • Knowledge of textured and modified diets
  • Experience in a care, hospital or commercial kitchen setting would be advantageous but not essential as full training can be provided
  • Have good verbal and written skills
  • To have the ability to relate to our residents in a kind and courteous manner

£10.42-£12.00 per hour
