Our client based in the Cranleigh area is looking to recruit a Woodworking Machinist & CNC Operator.


The Machine Shop is the first stage of the production process - taking sheets of plywood and converting them into loudspeaker cabinet component parts using both our state-of-the-art CNC router, as well as more traditional woodworking machining tools suchas a table saw and hand routers.

Accuracy and attention to detail are critical at this stage, to ensure each loudspeaker cabinet progresses through the factory smoothly.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Running of the factory's CNC machine initial startup, loading of the appropriate machining programs, loading boards & unloading parts, and endofday shut down.
  • Manual machining work on components, such as table saw and hand router work.
  • Inspection of machined parts once finished to ensure consistency, quality and accuracy.
  • Helping to keep a reliable flow of product through this department of the factory.
  • Regular clearing and maintenance of the factory dust extraction systems.
  • Daytoday maintenance of the CNC machine and other equipment within the factory, including appropriate tool changing cycles, arranging for resharpening as required and organising replacements as necessary.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Various woodwork subassembly tasks such as the fitting of tnuts or threaded inserts into machined parts.
  • Assisting with other areas of the factory as & when required or when primary responsibilities are completed.

Qualifications

The following are deemed essential skills requirements:

  • Either official qualifications or time-skilled experience of use of an industrial table saw.
  • Experience in the use of hand routers.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Confident in reading technical drawings, with experience of AutoCAD an advantage.

The following would be regarded as beneficial, but not essential:

  • Experience in operation of a CNC router, with knowledge of Xilog machine controls and AlphaCAM an advantage
