Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of prescription requests for the practice population, liaising effectively with all relevant personnel.

Manage prescription requests from vulnerable/high priority patients and care home residents. Liase with our pharmacy technicians and practice pharmacists regarding any prescription queries.

Work with the Wargrave Pharmacy Service Team to develop and implement changes to medicines in line with MHRA alerts, product withdrawal and other Local or National Guidance.

Carry out prescribing audits as required. Schedule medication reviews ensuring patients have attended for chronic diseases reviews where appropriate.

Be aware of monitoring requirements for selected drugs or categories of drugs and follow up required monitoring with patients concerned.

Build good working relationships with local Pharmacies to ensure efficient Prescription Service is maintained.

Refer patients to their community pharmacist for support with using their medicines. Keep up to date with all prescribing guidelines and protocols relevant to the role. Ensure Patient Confidentiality is always maintained.

Promotion of online ordering for repeat prescriptions using the NHS APP Provide cover for members of the reception team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
