Senior Reinsurance Accountant

London

The Opportunity

QBE Europe is looking for a skilled Senior Reinsurance Accountant to join the Global Reinsurance Finance and Operations team in the London office. This role involves processing, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions, assisting with general accounting, RI Finance Close processes, and preparing management reports monthly, quarterly, and annually.

Your new role
  • Ownership of Reinsurance Finance Close plan and reporting to the general Finance Close Manager
  • Ownership of Reinsurance Finance Interfaces and finance inputs for upstream and downstream interfaces into and out of the Reinsurance platform
  • Ownership of Reinsurance System Chart of accounts
  • Preparation and review of Reinsurance to GL reconciliations
  • Preparation of Subledger Reinsurance Journals including earnings
  • Preparation of all out of subledger system Reinsurance Journals (G/L journals)
  • Preparation of Reinsurance Analytical Reviews
  • Respond to Reinsurance Audit Queries related to the RI finance processes including account reconciliations
  • Assisting with finance responsibilities linked to the RI migration project such as conversion reconciliations, balance sheet remediation, and establishing and running the new finance close process
  • Assisting with miscellaneous finance responsibilities
About You
  • Accounting Degree / Qualified Accounting Certification Required
  • Knowledge of RI Facultative and Treaty structures and calculating Reinsurance is preferred
  • Prior Reinsurance/Insurance Accounting experience in Operations and Finance required
  • Exposure to project management, process remediation and transition states preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships and trust at all levels internally and externally
  • Knowledgeable in Oracle, Peoplesoft, or other GL system preferred
  • Exposure to System changes, System implementations, and Database modeling preferred
  • Strong skills in spreadsheets, data analysis, and reconciliation procedures
