Humly North East is working with one of our fantastic primary schools in Houghton - Le -Spring (DH4) who are looking for a motivated and experienced Teaching Assistants to work across all key stages, working both 1:1 and with small groups of children.

There are both full time and part time positions, starting ASAP and they will run till end of the school year.


Responsibilities include:

  • Helping pupils with their learning, often with a particular focus on maths, reading and writing
  • Supervising group activities
  • Setting up equipment for lessons and keeping classrooms safe and tidy
  • Helping develop programmes of learning activities and adapting appropriate materials
  • Motivating and encouraging pupils
  • Monitoring and recording children's behaviour and progress

It's essential that you have:

  • A positive approach to working with children and the ability to motivate, inspire and build rapport
  • A level 2/3 qualification in childcare or TA
  • A strong regard for pupil safety and wellbeing
  • Respect for diversity, as you'll be working with pupils from a range of backgrounds
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with pupils, parents, teachers,and governors
  • Excellent team working skills for working with other support staff
