Your role: As the Head of Digital, you will be responsible for driving the digital strategy of The Scottish Sun, enhancing our online presence, and ensuring our content reaches and resonates with a diverse and growing audience. You will lead a team of digital content creators, developers, and analysts, working collaboratively with other departments to deliver compelling and interactive content across all digital platforms.

Day to day you will:

  • Oversee The Scottish Sun website, social channels and video output
  • Edit stories to ensure the highest standard of presentation, particularly in headlines, pictures and video, to maximise traffic and dwell time
  • Work with editorial colleagues across our integrated newsroom for fresh lines, particularly on large live and breaking stories
  • Manage online news operation, audience teams and audio/video departments
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments including commercial and marketing
  • Interpret analytics to report to colleagues and the wider business on a regular basis
  • Maintain an excellent relationship and seeking opportunities with the online, audience, sport, tech and video teams across the whole of News Corp

What we are looking for from you:

  • Digital experience on a fast-paced national news platform
  • Experience in managing and leading high performance teams
  • Expert in SEO, social media and digital news delivery
  • Experience of video production, commission and knowledge of emerging platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of analytics and ability to interpret data and implement new strategies
  • Keen awareness of the digital media environment, trends and audience behaviours
  • Skilled in creating commercially viable editorial projects and initiatives
  • Understanding of Scottish Sun DNA and how it translates to digital platforms
  • Fully aware of legal issues, the Editors' Code of Practice and IPSO standards
