We are in need of dynamic, experienced and committed qualified Level 3's to support the senior Management team, taking on leadership and supporting the setting at our term time only preschool based in St.

Anns (NG3).

Our small preschool has a lot of heart and has seen some great staff support the Owner/Manager whilst on site, the time has come for the Preschool to move to the next level with your support so that a new Management structure can be fully established.


We achieved a 'Good' following our inspection in January 2024 and need strong, enthusiastic and competent practitioners to take on the day to day supervisory and statutory requirements whilst childcare is delivered.

The role is supported by a competent, passionate and experienced Manager at our Bluebell Hill site and the structure of the Leadership team will create a balanced work environment that will be progressive for the setting.

All administrative, promotion, long term aspirations for the setting, funding, overall vision and implementation of standards will be fulfilled by the Manager working closely with the deputy who will have creative control of planning, how we educate through routines, statutory requirements and family/staff support.


We have various hours and plan to expand to a 2nd location of operation with shifts Mornings and Afternoons Term time only 38 weeks per year.

We will also offer holiday clubs in addition as we expand.

For example hours available 8.30am to 2.30pm/3pm, 8.45am to 3.15, 8am to 1pm, 1pm to 6pm (16.5 to 27.5 hours per week)

Job Description for Deputy Manager/ Level 3 Senior

Reports to Manager and works on site to maintain, review and improve the day to day running of the setting

  • Role or Purpose_
To work alongside the Manager and rest of the team to set a good example, working towards the delivery of a child-centred environment

To follow the policies and procedures of the company

To make sure the daily programmes meet the needs of families, children and Ofsted

To maintain a high level of parent partnership and excellent levels of customer care at all times

  • Responsibilities_
To effectively review and deliver our educational programme, ensuring that the individual needs and interest of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members)

To produce a high level of staff motivation and organisation

To monitor the quality of adult/child interactions

To monitor the quality of planned activities

To make sure that effective observations are carried out by key persons

To implement health and safety policies and supervise daily checks

To liaise with parent/carers to meet their needs and report feedback to the general manager/deputy manager

To take responsibility for safeguarding children and record/report any incidents to a senior manager

To undertake and lead on additional responsibilities such as SENCO, training co-ordinator, safeguarding Officer etc.

To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, summer fayre,etc


To coordinate and be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, setting up and packing away, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.


To be aware of the profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside.

Essential Qualifications, Training and Experience

Level 3 or higher childcare qualification

An Enhanced DBS

Recent Paediatric First Aid certificate

Proven track record of working in leadership roles

Safeguarding training

Experience in working with children

Experience of working in an early years setting

Ability to communicate well with adults and children

Ability, flexibility and willingness to take on other responsibilities or duties as deemed necessary

An ability to use initiative and prioritise workload

Good organisational skills

Good communication skills

Knowledge of Health and Safety and practical hygiene issues

Knowledge and understanding of EYFS (and ability to support the implementation of the new Educational programme)

The ability to work within and motivate a small team and the children you work with

Knowledge and understanding of Every Child Matters

Knowledge and understanding of Early Years Foundation Stage

Knowledge and understanding of Equal Opportunities

Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding Children

Evidence of ongoing personal development training

Desire to continue with professional development
