An opportunity has arose to join Tong Engineering as a despatch operative.


This stand-alone role is supporting the After Sales Team to ensure prompt despatch of goods in the UK and worldwide to the Tong Engineering customer base.

Reporting directly to the After Sales Manager the applicant will have an attention to detail, be hard working and reliable with a can do attitude, and possess a drive to fulfil orders in a timely manner.

The applicant should possess some or all of the criteria listed below

  • Previous experience working in a despatch environment.
  • The role requires regular heavy lifting, therefore applicants must be physically fit and able to carry out these tasks.
  • Be organised and prioritise workload without supervision.
  • Able to work to deadlines and note past instances where this has been achieved.
  • Have good administration and organisational skills.
  • Experience with international despatch processes including export declarations/processes, including collating proof of export documentation for goods shipped outside of the UK.
  • Be computer literate and have experience working with Microsoft Outlook and UPS, TNT/Fedex and DHL online booking portals.
  • Deal directly and promptly with carriers should problems occur with deliveries.
  • Build relationships with existing carriers and constantly monitor current carrier rates to ensure Tong are receiving a fine balance of both service levels and costs.
  • Stores experience would be advantageous.
