Job summary

Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust are excited to invite applications from suitably qualified clinicians for the role of Advanced Paramedic Urgent Care (South Yorkshire). Applicants for qualified posts should meet the essential criteria for the role, already holding an MSc in advanced clinical practice (or equivalent) and able to work independently across the four pillars of advanced practice.

We also welcome applications to trainee posts from those who meet the essential criteria for the role and hold a PGDip in advance practice (or equivalent). The Trust will support successful candidates with their educational attainment and where identified the development of specific capabilities across the wider three pillars of advanced practice: leadership and management, research and audit, and education.

You will have the drive, leadership skills and clinical excellence to take on the exciting and challenging role of Advanced Paramedic Urgent Care. The current advert is to fill a postion within South Yorkshire to develop practice across the defined geographical area.

Utilising your advanced practice knowledge and skills, the post holder will provide advanced clinical care and management, coordinating the care of patients with complex and challenging health care needs.

Main duties of the job

In addition, Advanced Paramedics Urgent Care will provide direct clinical supervision to a team of Specialist Paramedics / Nurses Urgent Care and contribute to the wider operational clinical team through professional activities related to the four pillars of advanced practice.

We are seeking a qualified HCPC registered paramedic with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience in an urgent & emergency care role, significant experience at advanced practice level, and demonstrable experience working within a clinical supervisory/leadership role.

Key responsibilities:

Use highly developed clinical skills and theoretical knowledge as defined in the Advanced Paramedic Urgent Care Scope of Practice Plan own workload related to clinical supervision of specialist paramedics, balancing this with the governance and development activities related to the 4 pillars of advanced practice (clinical practice, education, research & audit, leadership) Demonstrate a high standard of leadership through role modelling and excellence in own professional and clinical practice Leads on the supervision of Specialist Paramedics (urgent care) within their teams, providing clinician focused support and supervision to ensure practice portfolio development and maintenance Works with system partners across acute, community and primary care to develop service improvements, leading on initiatives where relevant to own area of clinical practice Person Specification

Excellent communication skills Demonstrates attitudes and behaviour which enhances the experience of the patient Ability to apply advanced clinical assessment, clinical reasoning and formulate differential diagnoses and management plans underpinned by extensive knowledge and experience. Ability to deliver advanced clinical skills and interventions in accordance with scope of practice for Advanced Paramedic Urgent Care

Experience

Essential

Significant post-registration experience of advanced clinical practice, clinical leadership, clinical supervision and mentorship 3 year's experience as a Specialist Paramedic or advanced practitioner Commitment to rotational working through other clinical settings

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Paramedic Holds a Master's Degree (MSc) Advanced Practice or Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent MSc as assessed by the Consultant Paramedic (Urgent & Emergency Care) OR is working towards MSc with at least PGCert/Dip (Level 7)
