Summary of Role
As a leading International Defence and Security Company, we are recruiting for a Head of Aviation Safety to support our Cyber, Space and Technology business division.
As the Head of Aviation Safety, you will be responsible for the continued implementation of the Aviation Safety Management System (ASMS) and development of Air System Safety Cases (ASSC) across a multi-approval Airborne operation.
Main Duties
- Providing independent advice to the Accountable Manager / Accountable Manager (Military Flying) on all aspects of aviation safety risk management.
- Leadership and line management of the Air Safety Team.
- Providing advice and guidance to all key stakeholders on all aviation safety matters.
- Accountable for the development and management of the ASMS budget.
- Managing the ASMS implementation plan and promoting Raytheon UK's positive and engaged air safety culture.
- Managing the ASSC for all military platforms operated by the company.
- Coordinating and communicating (on behalf of the AM) with the regulatory bodies as necessary on issues relating to air safety.
- Facilitating the development and provision of a safety risk management capability.
- Management of the Error Management System.
- Monitoring of air safety risk registers to identify and advise where circumstances may have changed and caused risks to no longer be ALARP and Tolerable.
- Conducting safety analysis and providing periodic reports on the organisation's safety performance.
- Planning & facilitating staff air safety training.
- Organise, facilitate and where necessary lead Air Safety meetings.
- Represent RSL at relevant external safety meetings.
- Continual promotion and improvement of the ASMS.
- Maintaining the Air Safety Management Manual (ASMM), ASMS records and safety documentation.
- Interface with other members of the Engineering Management Team to continue to improve the Raytheon UK Engineering Function as a highly capable, professional, and respected part of Raytheon.
Essential
Senior management leader, including but not limited to:
- Comprehensive understanding of CAA / MAA Regulatory Frameworks and applicable regulations.
- Recognised professional (civil and military) SMS training courses covering practical requirements such as Safety Risk Management; Error Management and Safety Investigation.
- Demonstrable competency for strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management.
- Demonstrable experience in driving change management programmes through to completion
- Willing and eligible to hold SC security clearance.
Desirable
- Possess a recognised Air Safety Management postgraduate academic qualification.
- Possess a recognised engineering or pilot training qualification.
