Purpose of Role


My Client are currently looking for a Market and Competitor Intelligence Manager to join the Market Intelligence and Research team to provide the business and its stakeholders with up to date data on the markets in which it operates in.

The role will reportinto the Head of Market Intelligence & Research and the appointed person will;

  • Provide insight to stakeholders on all aspects concerning specialist competitor and market insight to influence and drive decisions.
  • Account manage stakeholders across the business providing a consultative service.
  • Be the eyes and ears of NS&I, keeping the business at the forefront of all the latest trends and market developments.
  • Deliver and be responsible for the ongoing management of the NS&I Corporate and Board scorecardsBe responsible for managing, developing and coaching a direct report within the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for researching, analysing and interpreting market intelligence data tailored for committees in order to help influence NS&I's strategic decisions.
  • Formulate expert market assumptions and highlight the implications of key market trends that impact NS&I.
  • Be viewed as the 'expert in the room' in terms of knowledge of the external environment
  • Present, lead discussions and confidently field questions from senior managers to enable them to make informed strategic decisions.

Interpretation & Analysis

  • Accurately calculate and forecast market trends using statistical analysis, evaluating the impact this has on the wider market and NS&I.
  • Creatively source accurate competitor intelligence insights to establish best in class practices, benchmarking against NS&I and make recommendations to influence decisions.

Delivering broader economic market knowledge

  • Monitor the external economic market conditions and change to regulatory, legislator and yearly Budget announcements in order to assess the implication on NS&I to enable the business to better understand their relationship to the savings market.
  • Alert the business to any potential threats from substitute market (e.g. stocks and shares) and evaluate the danger they pose.
  • Account manage multiple adhoc stakeholder work requests across the business from small teams, up to CEO and executive management committees, ensure the execution of task to a high standard.
  • Plan, project manage and deliver each work request that meets stakeholders' requirements to agreed deadlines. Where appropriate maximise resources intelligently through commissioning research to 3rd party agencies.
  • Coach and develop the Reporting Analysts, tracking performance against a structured plan.
