The role will be responsible for monitoring compliance to Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, and through internal audit identify and develop areas for continuous improvement.
The Health and Safety officer will act as the safety champion across the business, consulting regularly with staff on safe working practices, accident investigations and changing behaviours.
This will be an Office and Site based role; office is based in Nottingham.Responsibilities:
n
- Ensure Health and Safety Compliance across all contract sitesn
- Annual review of all Company Policiesn
- To keep business informed of any new legislation, identify gaps and implement actions to ensure conformity;n
- Verifying all Rams & CCP for all projectsn
- Review of declared dynamic risk assessmentn
- Create & Maintain all toolbox talk contentsn
- Ensure the completion & regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment & operationsn
- Conduct S.H.A.R.P (Safety, health and risk procedures) implementation training at sitesn
- Weekly/Monthly site visits to conduct SHARP assessment and submit audit reports, work closely with SM's & PM's to provide feedback on SHARP Audit & follow up subsequent H&S & training needs.n
- Chair the monthly office H&S meetingsn
- Liaison with any HSE / Local Authority EHO, Environment Agency, etc.n
- Weekly / Monthly review of accident/incident Near Miss Database with analysis of lessons learnt with Accident / Incident investigation & reporting, etc., including reporting to HSE and liaison with Insurers/Solicitors wherever necessary, etc.n
- Support the PM's with any H&S inquiries from clientsn
- Ensure the company is appropriately covered with H&S required first aiders & fire wardensn
- Take Lead in the training of Managers and Contractors on health and safety issues and risks, Liaising with any external Health & Safety consultants in the provision of training programmes and health and safety servicesn
- Management / facilitation of Safety Schemes in Procurementn
- Production of monthly Management/Board HSE Reportsn
- Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.n
- Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation & communicate relevant changes to the business.n
- Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.n
- Maintenance of own Continued Professional Developmentn
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills/Traits:
n
- Strong knowledge of health and safety statutory regulations.n
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.n
- NEBOSH Construction certificate is essential.n
- NEBOSH Environmental Certificate would be an advantage.n
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate would be an advantage.n
- Previous experience as a Health and Safety Officer in a similar environment.n
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised working environment;n
- CSCS Card;n
- Full UK Driving license.
