Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,800 people in the UK. BDUK is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK Defence customers including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4ISTAR Services, Through Life Support for the Chinook and Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services.

Responsibilities:

This role is required to lead the MRO support teams BDUK MRO for the Apache AH-64E Operational Conversion Unit (OCU) which is a training service delivered under the UK Apache Long Term training and Support Service (LTTSS) (Line Maintenance) & other VL MRO support teams . This is a full-time role based at Middle Wallop, Hampshire supporting line and base maintenance.

This role will provide leadership, management, oversight, assurance and accountability for MRO support aspects of the OCU maintenance organization. The post will lead a team of engineers, technicians and other support staff to deliver safe, serviceable and airworthy aircraft, in the correct quantities, to deliver the OCU Flying Programme (FLYPRO).

Duties include:

  • Acting as Line Manager for the off-aircraft support elements of the Apache Operational Conversion Unit (OCU), specifically those staff assigned to the Tool Issue Centre, Ground Crew, Engineering Data Cell and Technical Support team.
  • Act as the management Point of Contact (PoC) for non-assigned staff working within the OCU environment, specifically across: Supply staff (Kuehne & Nagel sub-contractors), CAMO liaison staff, Field Service Representatives (FSRs), Customer Support Engineers (CSEs), Quality staff, Maintenance safety staff and EHS staff.
  • Provide liaison and support to the customer organization at the Middle Wallop site.This involved leading the bi-weekly Customer Engineering Meeting (with 7 Regiment Army Air Corps), representing BDUK at the Station Stakeholders' Meeting and acting as the immediate PoC with Station Headquarters.

Required Qualifications:

This post will require demonstrable, successful experience of aircraft maintenance operations, in a UK Defence or commercial context along with strong relevant technical, managerial and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in management within a highly regulated aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of military/commercial airworthiness and regulatory systems.
  • Experience in working with CAMO and managing planning teams.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work against tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with supply systems and aircraft maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Ability to interact with military and company officials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in working in a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Ability to obtain a UK security clearance.
  • Apache/Rotorcraft experience is desired

Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship.

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
