Principal Security Engineer

Who are we looking for? Due to sustained growth across Bridewell, we are on the hunt for a highly skilled and experienced Principal Security Engineer to join our Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) team. In this crucial role, you will lead client onboarding projects, oversee Azure Sentinel proof of concepts, and create custom data connectors. The ideal candidate will have a profound grasp of infrastructure as code (IaC) and DevOps Pipelines with Bicep/Terraform, along with proficiency in scripting/programming languages like Python/Go, particularly for Azure Function Apps.

What you'll be doing

  • Client Onboarding Projects: Lead and execute thorough client onboarding processes for a seamless transition and integration into SOC.
  • Azure Sentinel Proof of Concepts (PoCs): Design, implement, and manage PoCs for Azure Sentinel, showcasing its capabilities and value to clients.
  • Custom Data Connectors: Develop, test, and deploy custom data connectors to integrate diverse data sources into security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Leverage Bicep and Terraform for automating the deployment and management of cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability and consistency.
  • Scripting and Automation: Create and maintain automation scripts using Python/Go and Function Apps to streamline security operations and processes.
  • Technical Leadership: Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Client Engagement: Collaborate closely with clients to grasp their security requirements, provide expert advice, and secure their satisfaction with our services.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Work closely with the sales team to precisely scope projects and deliverables to ensure adequate resources and time allocation.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for projects, processes, and configurations.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in security engineering or a similar technical role, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead position.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing client onboarding projects and Azure Sentinel deployments.
  • Extensive familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Bicep and Terraform.
  • Proven experience with DevOps Pipelines and methodologies.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting/programming languages, particularly Python/Go, and experience with Function Apps and REST API integrations.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of cloud security principles and practices, especially in Azure, AWS, GCP.
  • Expertise in security information and event management (SIEM) systems, preferably Azure Sentinel.
  • Knowledge of networking, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security technologies, including on-premise infrastructure, and how these integrate into SOC monitoring.
  • Acquaintance with compliance standards and frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS, CIS, and GDPR.
