Quay View School are recruiting for a Catering Assistant to join their catering team We are looking for passionate people, who can support the provision of the catering operation assisting with basic food preparation and hygiene and who can promote healthy eating and contribute to the wellbeing of our Children and Young People.

In this role, you will under direction, take responsibly for parts of the catering operation, ensure the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the Company's Assured Safe Catering Policies and Procedures and assist the Chef with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with these.

Devon Children's Services specialises in high quality residential and educational provisions for children between 7-18 who may have SEMH and /or Autism.

The safeguarding and wellbeing of our young people who may have experienced challenge in their lives is always paramount; along with encouragement to achieve their full potential.

Devon Children's Services currently have two educational settings, Quay View School and Tor View School, and three Children's Homes in Tavistock, Gunnislake and Okehampton.

This is a part-time, term-time only role (25hrs p/w).

As part of the Support Services team, our small catering team provides freshly cooked and balanced meals to our young people and staff in the school.

Our Catering Assistant will assist our School Cook with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals, as well as ensuring that the kitchen and catering areas meet operational hygiene standards.

What we'd like from you:

• A "can do" positive attitude.
• Basic qualifications in food hygiene would be an advantage however, training will be provided
• Previous experience in catering would also be an advantage
• Commitment to delivering a high quality service
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Enthusiasm and energy with a good degree of empathy and understanding of others
