Town Ranger:

The Town Ranger is at the core of Rhyl and serves residents, visitors, and businesses within the BID area.

You will be an ambassador for Rhyl, and a friendly and approachable face in town.

You will help customers and businesses by providing helpful information and offering practical assistance as needed.


You will develop positive relationships with the businesses in town by visiting them and learning about their business and their needs.

You will promote their services, act on their feedback, and escalate any of their concerns as appropriate.


As the eyes and ears of the town, you will work closely with local authorities and police, sorting issues that arise by reporting these to the relevant authority, and serving as a visible presence to deter shoplifting and other anti-social behaviours.


You will track and monitor the above using Rhyl BID's Customer Service Database on a daily basis, and may, from time to time, be called upon to complete other marketing and administrative activities.


You will be a member of a small and mutually supportive team, willing to be flexible, and to work on a shift basis, including Saturdays.


It is expected that over a period of time in the role you will develop strong working relationships with visitors to the town, local businesses, police, and community support agencies within the town.


Key Activities:

  • To create an environment that can be enjoyed by residents and visitors, and in which businesses can thrive.
  • To work with other teams to enhance service within the BID area, and to offer timely responses to issues that may arise
  • To identify and escalate to the relevant authority any situations that cannot be resolved quickly and efficiently by the BID team
  • To record all interaction and activities within the BID database in realtime.
  • To ensure any work plans and productivity targets are achieved e.g. 10 Business Visits per day

Desirable qualifications and Experience

  • Customer service background in a facetoface customer contact environment
  • Hospitality and Tourism experience
  • Security experience
  • Health and Safety awareness
  • Current First Aid certificate or willingness to undertake
  • Positive Attitude and Flexibility

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills; ability to empathise, encourage, and diffuse conflict
  • Self motivated, and also able to follow direction, and to exercise good judgment
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time, and to work outside in all weathers
  • Well presented and prepared to wear business attire / full uniform at ALL times when on duty

Requirements:

  • You must be prepared to work outside in all weather conditions and to work varied shift patterns
  • A clear DBS
  • There are occasions where you will be a "Lone Worker"
