Role Summary

This is a multidisciplinary role providing medical support at F3/CT1 level to acute surgical teams and patients. Candidates will therefore require at least 1 year of salaried NHS experience at SHO level (F2). This must include either 6 months as an F2 in acute medical or geriatric medicine. Applicants must have GMC registration.

This is an opportunity to work with the perioperative medicine team as part of an exciting and evolving speciality within the RDUH trust (Eastern). This dynamic team is a multidisciplinary group and is consultant led. We are striving to improve the care provided to patients on perioperative pathways. It is a ward-based role which will involve working at an SHO (F3 /ST1 equivalent) level. Full details can be found on the job description and do not hesitate to contact us for additional queries. The successful applicant will work 8-5pm Mondays to Fridays in a perioperative firm-based team, closely supported by 4 consultants. On occasion independent work will be required when consultants are on leave. The post holder will manage the perioperative patient list and review, prioritise, and manage patients accordingly. They will take medical consults, triage and 'problem-shoot' medical complications in surgical patients, such as perioperative pulmonary, cardiac and metabolic complications post op. They will be involved in MDT and family discussions, breaking bad news and leading TEP discussions; hence a fluent and advanced command of English is essential.
