We're hiring Support Workers for a residential school and college that caters to young people aged 6-25 with special educational needs, particularly autism, communication difficulties, severe and complex learning disabilities, and challenging behaviors.

These positions are term-time only.


As a Support Worker, your main role will be to provide 1:1 support to children and young people within the houses and school or college community.

This involves implementing individual plans, supporting social, educational, and emotional development, and collaborating effectively within a team. You'll also assist House Managers in the day-to-day running of the house.

Salary:


Night Waking Support Worker starting salary is dependent on experience, from £21,945 per annum for 38 hours per week, 41 weeks per year.

Day Support Worker starting salary is dependent on experience, from £21,287 per annum for 40 hours per week, 41 weeks per year.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students to develop social relationships within the house.
  • Assisting students in developing independence in life skills.
  • Encouraging participation in education and recreational activities.
  • Contributing to students' general wellbeing, health, safety, and security.
  • Providing personal care with dignity and respect.
  • Maintaining accurate records and assisting with assessments and reports.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assisting House Managers with household duties.
  • Participating in planning and review processes.
  • Attending internal and external reviews and staff meetings.
  • Participating in an annual residential trip and working beyond normal hours during this period.
  • Reporting damage and defects promptly.
  • Coordinating leisure and social activities for students.

Essential Criteria:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or willingness to work towards it.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and ICT.
  • Willingness to undergo required training.
  • Experience in keeping clear and concise records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with varying levels of communication ability.
  • Empathy and commitment to supporting children and young people.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant training in areas such as Emergency First Aid, Food Hygiene, etc.
  • Previous care experience in any setting.
  • Basic IT skills and good written English.
  • Access to a vehicle with a clean driving license.
This position offers a temporary-to-permanent arrangement, providing an opportunity to transition into a permanent role after the qualifying period.

£12.82-£13.68 per hour
