Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom Penumbra Full time

Location: North Aberdeenshire

Volunteer

If you're looking for a rewarding experience and to be part of an inspirational team that really does make a difference, this is your opportunity to volunteer within our WELL Aberdeenshire Service.

We are looking to expand our team with a network of peer volunteers who add value to the work that we do. Your unique knowledge and understanding gained from managing your own mental health challenges will be called upon; we recognise and value how transferable and insightful learning from previous life experiences can be. With passion, and compassion, you will bring authenticity and positivity to finding ways to empower people.

At WELL Aberdeenshire we work with people aged 16-65 to explore the things that matter to them and look at opportunities to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Our aim is to support people to feel well, empowered, and linked locally.

Workshops on Wellbeing are a key part of the support we provide. These interactive sessions bring people together to share their experiences whilst exploring practical tools, tips, and techniques for managing mental health. If you are comfortable and confident to appropriately share your own experiences in a group setting, then this is a great opportunity to support our Practitioners. We recognize that sometimes exploring situations can bring emotions to the surface, and the reassurance of an empathetic face and compassionate ear in the room would be invaluable for people feeling able to engage.

It's really important for us to be visible across Aberdeenshire communities, and public engagement events are a key part if this. In this role, you will join us as we attend fairs and festivals to spread awareness of the work that we do and to encourage people to reach out if they need to.

As a mental health charity, we really value team wellbeing; that's why we want you to know you'll be joining a friendly team. You don't need to have any previous experience to be a Volunteer, just a passion for engaging with people. If you enjoy conversation and connecting with people, then this is the ideal opportunity to support our Practitioners and promote WELL Aberdeenshire.

Volunteering with Penumbra, we can promise you'll be inspired by some pretty amazing humans every single day. We want you to grow and thrive We will support you on your own individual volunteering path, helping you to gain experience and develop new skills.
