Overall Purpose of the post:

  • We are looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to deliver a specialist programme to provide information, support, and advice to Irish Survivors that enables them to access the Mother and Baby Home Payments Scheme.
  • As well as identifying and working with Survivors in the Mother and Baby Home Payments Scheme, you will support other Irish Survivors in the community to access necessary health, welfare and social befriending support.

Duties:

  • Provide advice, information, and support for Irish Survivors to access the Mother and Baby Home Payments Scheme.
  • To organise and facilitate Survivors Lunch Clubs and outings as necessary.
  • To work in liaison with other Survivor Support Services and Irish welfare organisations to communicate the best way to support Irish Survivors.
  • Attend meetings and forums as appropriate to work in unity with Survivor's support services in England.
  • Supporting Clients with dealing with other health and welfare services.
  • Liaise with CIS Health, Welfare, and Befriending Services to help meet the needs of Irish Survivors.
  • Direct Irish Survivors to the mental health support available to them including Counselling through the Immigrant Counselling and Psychotherapy Service (ICAP).
  • Subject to resources, to develop and operate outreach surgeries in various parts of Coventry, Warwickshire, West Midlands, and Leicestershire and to conduct outreach work in general, including home visits.
  • To maintain accurate and comprehensive case records on all individual client contacts, including outcomes.

General Duties:

  • To increases the profile and work of the organisation through liaison with other agencies and workers.
  • To attend staff and general meetings within CIS including CIS AGM.
  • To prepare a 6 monthly report detailing client outcomes for the purposes of CIS grant aid providers about the needs of Irish Survivors.
  • To contribute to the development of a newsletter and other information to raise awareness amongst the Irish community of the needs of Irish Survivors.
  • To anticipate and attend training as requested.
  • To undertake all duties in accordance with the organisations equal opportunities policy.
  • Any other duties that fall within the grade of this post as directed by the Manager.


The post is office based and there is no home working due to the face to face client work involved.
