An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, self
- motivated individuals to join the Logistics team at the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, as logistics driver, for a busy department.


You will be responsible for ensuring safe collection and delivery of post, parcels, confidential documentation, furniture items and specimens around the North and South of Warwickshire, Rugby and Solihull.

Training will be provided on all aspects of the role.


In addition the role also includes the provision of non-emergency patient transfers from the hospital sites to home, following discharge.


The Bank Logistics Driver will carry out Logistic Service duties as directed by the Logistics Manager and Assistant Logistics Manager.

Follow the departments documented policies and procedures at all times.

To perform the duties in line with local protocols and local agreements.

Support planned and reactive logistic tasks.


Have a flexible approach to working various shifts patterns which may include a mixture of early, day time, evening, weekends and bank holidays.

Must a driving licence to allow to drive up to 3.5 tonnes.


The post-holder will be managerially accountable to the General Manager Hotel Services within the Facilities Directorate and will be responsible for defining standards, policy and strategy for the waste management and environmental service within the Trust.

Responsible for the picking up of orders from various locations, including the collection, sorting and delivery of mail, packages and stores for all designated locations.

Provision of courier service including the collection and delivery of assorted goods.

Transportation of controlled goods between NHS locations, including the accurate checking and completion of paperwork on collection and delivery.

Undertake duties as and when required, including transfers to and from Rehabilitation Centres and local Treatment Centres. This includes conveying medical staff such as Doctors/Nurses.

In and Out of Hours transportation of patients from Warwick Hospital on an ad hoc basis.

Ad-hoc transportation of Doctors and other medical staff e.g. following A&E transfers.


Transportation of non-controlled drugs between NHS locations and Patient's home addresses, including the accurate checking and completion of paperwork on collection and delivery.

Transportation of medical and non-medical equipment ranging from furniture and surgical appliances to delicate, expensive hospital equipment.

Adherence to Trust Policies and Procedures and relevant notices.

Adherence to the Code of Conduct, Operational Instructions, Clinical Protocols, Quality Procedures, COSHH, HAZCHEM and any other verbal or written instruction promulgated by the Trust.

The full and accurate maintenance of all records in line with the Trust Policies and Procedures.


Responsible for the maintenance of the interior and exterior of the vehicle by keeping it in a clean condition, ensuring the serviceability of vehicle equipment.

Responsible for the day to day driver maintenance of the vehicle, i.e. checks of lubricants, coolants, lights, indicators, brakes, windscreen wipers/washers, horn, tyres, fuel levels etc. Responsibility to report any faults as necessary.

Required to maintain a valid driving licence with a C1 category.

Required to undertake annual manual handling training using appropriate equipment for which the post holder has been trained.

Required to undertake manual handling tasks in accordance with the role, using appropriate equipment e.g. vehicle manual lifting aids and sack trucks.

Required to utilise the most cost effective and economical routes in the course of one's duty.

Responsible for the security of the vehicle during one's duty.


Required to undertake mandatory training and any other training deemed necessary for the fulfilment of the duties of the post and maintain personal professional development and a record of professional learning and experience.
