Fabrication Supervisor

Shift Pattern: 40 hours per week. Day shift Monday - Thursday Friday

Reporting to:
Production Manager

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of a 3year rolling manufacturing strategic plan for the Fabrication
Department. Provide feedback on adherence to strategic plans.

  • Maintain & publish departmental KPI performance to the fabrication team. Identify KPI shortcoming and devise action plans to ensure KPI compliance.
  • Review, define, refine, and communicate production times for each product variant. Update times following any product or processes change.
  • Work with the Production Controller to establish departmental load, review and plan resources accordingly.
  • Review and confirm forward manpower requirements to meet both current and future production demands.
  • Demonstrate ongoing improvements through manufacturing efficiency.
  • Where required identify back up plans for highrisk plant
  • Create and action succession plans for all key areas/personnel.
  • Ensure quality standards are understood and communicated throughout the department. Ensure employees receive suitable training to ensure the finished product meet (or exceeds) specifications.
  • Ensure departmental compliance to all business certification i.e., ISO 9001, etc.
  • Ensuring shop floor employees have the competence, skills, and knowledge to produce products safely, on time, and to the quality standards required.
  • Establish goals and objectives for the team, coach and develop high performance. Monitor, review and address under performance.
  • Address any staff discipline or grievance issues, maintaining appropriate records.
  • Prepare & publish weekly and monthly manufacturing performance against objectives.
  • Ensure sufficient employees trained in the creation and amendment of SOP's & RA's.
  • Constantly seek new innovative ideas to improve productivity and establish future capital requirements.
  • Accountable for the Health & Safety of all the manufacturing within the scope of the role.
  • Implement & maintain 5's throughout the Fabrication area, audit and maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
  • In conjunction with the H&S Manager, constantly try to eliminate the source of risk negating the need for PPE.
  • Ensure sufficient First Aiders/Fire Marshalls are available when the plant is operational.
  • Create an environment that is safety conscious. Review all accidents in conjunction with the Health & Safety
Manager, identifying trends and implement corrective action.

  • Work with the design team to ensure all new products are designed for manufacture.
  • In conjunction with the Continuous Improvement team and Fabrication Manager, value streaming map all production areas within your scope of responsibility. Identify improvements and implement appropriate plans to achieve objectives.

Professional Requirements

  • Fabrication knowledge and experience
    Solid computer skills:
  • Experience in process improvement techniques
