Job description

Job Purpose

  • To be the first point of contact for all telephone calls and guests on arrival at Hodgkinson House.
  • To assist in practical aspects of the running of the property over the weekend
  • Handle service user enquiries and requests in Hodgkinson House and move on properties, referring to the onduty support worker as necessary.
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries
  • To assist with Administrative tasks

Areas of responsibility:

  • To ensure service users receive a welcoming, supportive and positive experience whilst accessing CHESS services.
  • As the first point of contact, you will greet all visitors and then refer them accordingly.
  • To work alongside the Support team members and other staff in delivering an excellent service to service users whilst at Hodgkinson House and in the moveon properties.
  • To ensure rooms are ready, including cleaning and disposing of previous residents' belongings, if appropriate.
  • To log service users in and out of the facility, keeping the fire register up to date.
  • To ensure Hodgkinson House is kept to a high level of cleanliness, assisting with regular sanitisation routines.
  • To assess service users on entry to the facility.
  • To take in donations and store them safely.
  • Put in laundry and undertake other practical duties
  • Make up food parcels for service users and move on bags as required.
  • Maintain a good level of health and safety in the facilities.
  • To support the work of the Fundraising team as required in promoting CHESS's services to the local community, press and media agencies and attending events wherever possible.
  • To undertake learning and development activities as appropriate.
  • To support and promote diversity and equality of opportunity in the workplace.
  • To work alongside volunteers as necessary.
  • Assisting with gathering and recording referrals for the service.
  • To assist with the collation and recording of client surveys and forms, uploading them to the data storage systems as necessary.
  • To receive and store deliveries and donations

Experience, Education and Training
Essential

  • Excellent, clear communication skills face to face and on the phone.
  • Ability to manage difficult situations, and deal with them calmly, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Competent IT skills, able to confidently navigate Word, Excel, Outlook and a willingness to learn new systems.
  • Experience of working face to face with vulnerable people.
  • Selfmotivated with the confidence to work alone, but also able to work cooperatively and flexibly within a team environment.
  • Willingness to undertake any further training necessary to further your knowledge and become more effective in your role.
  • Physically able to lift
Desirable

  • Previous charity experience
  • Awareness of the principles of safeguarding vulnerable adults
  • Flexible in working hours according to the needs of the service
