We have a vacancy within our small but enthusiastic team for an Auditor.
The role would suit someone with an enquiring mind and who likes problem solving, as the key element of our role is to review processes and systems to assess how effective they are, and identify areas for improvement.
We also check that there are processes and controls in place to prevent and detect fraud.The role is very varied as it covers all services and operations within the Council, it will involve some travel to work at other Council sites around the district.
The role is an opportunity for an ambitious individual to receive excellent on the job training and development as well as opportunity to undertake a relevant professional qualification.

- You will possess strong communication and report writing skills.
- You will be customer focussed.
- You will have an analytical and enquiring mind, be able to look at a problem logically and methodically, and be able to use your initiative.
- You will have a good understanding of word processing and spreadsheet packages.
- Having previous knowledge/experience of working in local government and Internal Audit will be beneficial but is not essential.
This is a career graded role, the starting salary grade would be based on the level of audit or transferrable skills and experience, and possession of relevant qualifications, for example the Association of Accounting Technicians.
To start as an Auditor you must have a minimum of five GCSE grade A - C passes (inclusive of Maths and English), and willingness to undertake a course of study for a relevant professional qualification (AAT/CIIA).
Performance criteria on what is required to progress to higher grades is set out in the Criteria for Progression document (included in the job pack).
