Havering atte Bower, Greater London, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

Are you passionate and engaged with community work and volunteering? Do you have a proven track record for day to day management of volunteers and are enthusiastic about the benefits of great volunteer and community involvement? Have you had working experience within a community, heritage or conservation setting, connecting people with extraordinary places and creating spaces and opportunities for new ways of engagement? Working closely with the team at Rainham Hall and Community Garden will offer a variety of dynamic and challenging experiences for you to develop the confidence and capability of others and continue great participation here.

You'll bring people management and have experience working on access and inclusion and a good understanding of the impact this work can bring.

You will love creating brilliant experiences with and for the community and volunteers.

This is a fixed term, part time role with days and times to be negotiated (hours can be completed over 3-5 days) with flexible working required and some weekends.

The advertised salary is inclusive of the Outer London Weighting Allowance of £3,003 per annum (full time equivalent, pro-rata).

Interviews:
Friday, 9 June at Rainham Hall.

What it's like to work here:Rainham Hall and Community Garden is situated on the fringes of east London right in the heart of the community in Rainham Village.

A hidden gem of historic London, the Hall is a Georgian house on three floors with changing interactive and playful exhibitions.

Set within three acres of garden, the outdoor spaces are mixed use with a tiny winding woodland, blossoming orchard, lawn spaces to run about or picnic in and lots of areas for food production all supported by our volunteer gardeners.

If you are creative, love working with people, have great customer service skills, and are interested in how a community or partners can be involved in our work and you, we would love to hear from you.

It's just a 3 min walk from the Rainham Train Station, about 20 minutes from Stratford and feels like a real oasis on the outskirts of London.

What you'll be doing:
Each day at Rainham Hall and Community Garden will bring a new and exciting challenge. We are a small property and staff team with a group of dedicated volunteers.

You'll bring a sound working knowledge and experience of volunteering principles and practice and will be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt your style and tone to meet the changing needs of your audience.

You'll also be able to recognise the key differences between staff and volunteering roles, particularly the legal framework, the approach to reward and recognition, and dealing with challenging situations.

We are located right in the centre of Rainham Village supporting a local community who use the Hall and Gardens as well as directly using our facilities in the Hayloft for community events.

Community relevance and co creation is key to Rainham Hall and we prioritise this area of work.

You will bring experience of working with or within a community and a knowledge of techniques and approaches for this type of work, managing the development and delivery of this portfolio's strategic plan for volunteering and communities alongside the property leadership team.
