To provide a friendly, efficient and effective service to the patients and visitors and support services for GP's and managers to assist the reception supervisor and deputise when required.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for allocated GPs and to ensure all their general requirements are met. To provide leadership and motivation within your team by implementing monthly meetings to disseminate and discuss information provided by the managers of the business with the aim of improving standards. To be responsible for training of new team members and ongoing training of the team, highlighting to the supervisor/management any external training requirements. To ensure that you are aware of any issues within your team, identifying any poor performance and offer training and support to the individual/team. To ensure you are professional, courteous, and approachable at all times and lead by example within your team. To deputise for the supervisor when required and ensure the day-to-day duties are carried out without impact to the business. To prepare and conduct annual performance appraisals for your team and undertake any training required.

General Responsibilities .

To ensure all urgent practice notes are dealt with on the day and routine practice notes within 72 hours of receipt. To ensure all the scanning documents are kept-up-to date. To ensure all change of address forms are actioned in a timely manner. Ensure all scripts are signed in the absence of your GP. Ensure that the arrivals desk is kept clean and tidy, all documentation is fully stocked every day and that staff breaks are fully covered. Ensure GP clinics are monitored, and messages are put up on the board and any delays times disseminated. Ensure all urgent appointments are allocated to a GP and supervisor advised making sure that the patients are seen in a timely manner. To be a point of contact for general queries from GPs, Patients and Staff. To assist the supervisor in setting up and/or amending clinics. To manage patient expectations whether this is by telephone or face-2-face in a professional and friendly manner. Register new patients, requests for urgent prescriptions and advise patient of our services in line with the business protocol. To chaperone patients in consultations with GPs as and when required. Prepare summary notes for home visits, district nurse referrals and any additional documentation required by the supervisor. Prepare the GPs rooms ensuring all documentation/leaflets are fully stocked and equipment is in working order. To undertake any other tasks as required by the GPs or management team which are reasonable and in line with the principle of the role. To ensure that the RIP folder is maintained, and all documentation is forwarded to relevant authorities.

Excellent verbal communication skills.

To have well developed key board skills and confident in using the IT resource.

Willingness to learn and disseminate new knowledge and skills to others.

Good personal organisation and ability to work and an individual or as part of a team.

To be polite, professional, and approachable always when within the business.

To understand, accept and adhere to the stick rules of confidentiality.

Previous experience of working in a GP surgery.

EMIS system knowledge.
