We have a position available for this post at St. James University Hospital.We are looking for a dynamic individual who can ensure the consistent delivery of high quality supply of medicines to patients within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals. The successful candidate will be expected to work within the multi-disciplinary team, maintain high standards of practice while supporting staff on a daily basis.

Their responsibilities will include leading the team ensuring their development needs are met through appraisals and on going support and development. They will be expected to support the Pharmacy Technician Team Leader in practice and service projects as well as the day to day running of the dispensary.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, has an energetic nature, who is methodical and organised and able to work using their own initiative.

The successful candidate will participate in 1 in 4 weekend rota and a 1 in 6 evening shift until 8pm.

Manage and develop the daily delivery of the Pharmacy Service in Inpatient Pharmacy including labelling and dispensing, accuracy checking, stock control and ordering.

Line manage and supervise technical and support staff within the Inpatient Pharmacy.

Support and deputise for the Pharmacy Technician Team Leader in decision making and manage service requirements

Job description Job responsibilities To manage and develop the daily delivery of a specialist technical service within a designated section. This will incorporate the pharmacy strategy for medicines management. The post holder will also perform a range of medicine supply functions these will be predominantly concerned with accuracy checking and management of stock control. The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis. Performs the role of Lead Technician during evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays and is a named member on the Pharmacy MAJAX call out procedure. JOB DIMENSIONS Line management and supervision of staff within assigned area. Direct and support staff assigned to the specific area on rotation including other technical grades, pre-registration and qualified pharmacists. Responsible for training and development, attendance management including co-ordination of annual leave and lieu time for staff assigned to that area. Maintain links with other Specialist Pharmacy Technicians, managers and other pharmacy staff to ensure a safe and efficient service. Ensure departmental work is completed within agreed deadlines. Ensure equipment and materials are used responsibly relating to Trust risk assessments. Ensure all staff complies with Trust and Pharmacy Policies and Procedures. Responsible for all stock control ensuring optimum stock levels and minimal wastage, including ordering and receipt of medicines and consumables into designated area. Report departmental statistics, including dispensing errors and incidents, to relevant services manager on a monthly basis. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED BTEC in Pharmaceutical science, NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent. Member of or eligible to become technician registrant of General Pharmaceutical Council Extensive post qualification experience Supervisory / Management experience of staff Expert knowledge of good dispensing/distribution/manufacturing practice High level of knowledge of medicine stock control systems Hospital pharmacy experience Excellent literacy, numeric and written communication skills Accuracy checking experience Experience of managing change Experience of training/assessing staff Experience of developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Computer skills THE LEEDS WAY VALUES Our values are part of what make us different from other trusts, so we see this as a strength, as well as a responsibility.
