This role is within our Colleague Enablement and Devices teams, who are responsible for ensuring that our colleagues and partners have the right technology to support our members. By exploiting our physical and virtual platforms while enabling alignment to strategy and supplier roadmaps. Developing modern solutions that meet the requirements of a fast-evolving business and supports modern, cloud based, engineering needs.

You will use your technical expertise to lead on the creation of technical artefacts, enabling high quality (technical/business)solutions to be delivered at pace.

You will be working with Engineering Leads to ensure that the AGILE teams are doing the right thing, in the right way.

As an architect in the Colleague Enablement and Devices teams, you will work with the Senior Architect and Subdomain Leads to provide solution design and assurance for in flight and upcoming projects.

You will be instrumental to forming the roadmaps and direction these improvements take, with contributions such as:

  • Lead & influence the future roadmap of our Citrix platform. Drive further adoption of our other desktop options to reduce the Citrix estate footprint.
  • Work alongside our Senior Architect to influence architectural & design decisions with regards to the operational reliability of our cloud platforms.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, engineering teams and the wider Engineering Centre of Excellence to set up best in class cloud platforms.
  • Ensuring roadmap definitions are completed whilst aligning to best practice guidelines, engineering patterns, and Nationwide standards.
  • Playing an active role in architecture and design governance.
  • Drive efficiency, automation, and cost reduction by automating manual and repetitive tasks.
  • Provide technical expertise throughout all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Create and Adhere standards and provide governance to contribute to process improvement.
  • Identify and escalate dependencies, risks and exceptions that will affect implementation of technical artefacts.
  • Share knowledge with peers to contribute to the skills growth of knowledge within Nationwide's Engineering COE.
  • Player/Coach where you will be expected to help technically support and develop more junior engineers.
What you'll be doing

You will have a proven track record in providing leadership, technical design and delivery of secure solutions.
You will have in depth knowledge & experience of the following:

  • Previous Experience in Architectural or Senior Engineering Role
  • Providing technical expertise on Citrix, Intune managed solutions and integrations
  • Experience of the Microsoft E3/5 security stack
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems
  • Experience of Windows 365
  • Strong stakeholder communication and persuasion skills
  • Providing guidance and solution assurance as part of project governance
  • Reviewing and approving architectural design and configuration documents as part of ongoing peer review
  • Participating in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy

It would also be ideal if you have some background in

  • Azure Networking
  • Networking and Infrastructure security concepts
  • Migrating from traditional OnPrem to Cloud technologies
  • Agile project management methodologies
  • Working with 3 rd parties / suppliers
