Overview
The Department of Social Work at Utah State University (USU) is looking for a dedicated and experienced individual to join as an Assistant Professor (tenure track or clinical) at the flagship campus in Logan, Utah. This role is crucial for fulfilling USU's mission through education, research, and community engagement.
Join a special partnership between Logan City School District and the Department of Social Work to enhance generalist training for students in the school setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in school social work and proven experience in field supervision.
Position: This is a nine-month appointment with USU's social work program (MSW and BSW degrees) starting in August 2024.
Tenure-track roles involve 75% Teaching, supervising, and advising; 15% Research; and 10% Service. Clinical-track roles require 90% Teaching, supervising, and advising; and 10% Service. Responsibilities include:
- Teaching courses in BSW and MSW programs, including School Social Work
- Advising undergraduate and graduate students
- Supervising practicum placements
- Engaging in scholarship and professional productivity
- Providing service to the department, college, and social work profession
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Tenure Track:
- An MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program
- Two years post-MSW practice experience in criminal justice settings
- An earned doctorate (PhD or DSW) in social work or related field at the time of appointment (ABD considered)
Clinical Track:
- An MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program
- Two years post-MSW practice experience in a school setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Tenure Track:
- Teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Experience with online education technology
- Scholarly activity and practicum supervision
- 4+ years post-MSW practice in a school setting
Clinical Track:
- Teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels
- CSW or LCSW (or eligibility for Utah licensure)
- Experience with online education technology
- Practicum student supervision experience
- 4+ years post-MSW practice in a school setting
