Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Overview:

nThe Senior Electrical Engineer performs detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes and standards of an assigned scope of work in a company project, including specific complex deliverables.

Requisition Engineer for electrical equipment and responsible for the electrical content for several packaged mechanical equipment in an EPC project.

They also apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations. They prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures. Manage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term work activities in own area. They make sure they clearly communicate and explain complex issues and work to establish understanding.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

nProven technical experience in an EPC project in the oil & gas or renewable industries and able to work with minimal supervision.nProven experience as Requisition Engineer for major electrical equipment including specification, bid analysis and detail design development.nProven experience of electrical content for major rotating mechanical equipment.nProven experience of writing technical documentation including reports, standards, specifications, philosophiesnExperience in responding to client/third party comments on technical documents including specifications and datasheetsnReports progress of the work and able to be responsible for planning and estimating.nBe fully familiar with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issues.nIdentify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications, including providing any necessary supporting documentation and estimates.

Provide similar support for Variation Orders.nInterface with all disciplines and departments.

Maintaining close co-ordination with other engineering disciplines, Planning, Fabrication, Marine, and Project Management Team, as required.nDocument substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copies to Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager.nRaise technical queries to obtain missing information, clarify work scope, and to maintain preferred procedures, specifications, standards, practices and operational requirements.nAttend project review meetings, vendor meetings and engineering meetings, as required.nAssist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enable them in proceeding with their deliverables.nAssist procurement personnel in procuring Discipline equipment, materials and services; ensuring that work produced complies with Customer objectives and procedures.

Procurement assistance includes preparing and reviewing requisitions, evaluating technical quotations and preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with Procurement to expedite vendor documents, as directed by Discipline Lead Engineer.nReview vendor documentation, checking for compliance with project specifications and providing comments as necessary.nCheck final vendor data manuals to ensure that all requested data has been received and approved.nKeep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities and concerns, technical, budgetary and manpower related.nAssist in providing inputs for actual, planning and forecasting progress reports including associated productivity.nCapture lessons learned and enter into MDR's Lessons Learned system.nBe aware of costs related to own work and of the discipline.nPrepare/ review one-line diagrams and schematics diagrams.nParticipate in FAT & inspection and preparation & resolution of punch lists.nShows flexibility and willingness to help colleagues during heavy workload periods, holiday or, illness cover.nAct as a resource for colleagues with less experience.


Essential Qualifications and Education:

n10-15 yrs in oil and gas with major contractor or consultant predominantly performing detail designnBachelor Degree in EngineeringnStrong working knowledge of many design techniques and analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the content and application of standards, codes and guidelines as applicable.


Preferred Qualifications and Education:

nMust have a Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering.nPreferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society.nTypically has 10-15 years of detail electrical engineering experience.nMust have a working knowledge of IEC standards and codesnIs current on new scientific engineering methods and possesses a technical knowledge of the detail design engineering process.nMust demonstrate leadership, social and IT skills.

Is capable of appropriate use of computer applications and other specialized engineering tools.nProficient in English, both oral and written.nAble to work independently.nGood Communication skills (meetings, reporting)nCapable of working under pressurenAble to interact with other discipline.nGood organizer, motivator and supervisor.nKeen on improving effectiveness of the work.nShow flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to managing/learning of current working methods and software applications.
