Senior Sister / Charge Nurse, Band 7, Cumberland Infirmary. This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week (variable working pattern including weekends).


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse / Principle Operating Department Practitioner to join our clinical team within our operating theatre complex at the Cumberland Infirmary.


We currently have 10 elective and emergency theatres, covering a variety of specialties: Trauma & Orthopaedics, Vascular, Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology, ENT, Maxillo-Facial, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics.


The post holder is predominantly concerned with ensuring the delivery of high standards of patient centred care ensuring the cost-effective use of resources.

It combines clinical expertise, leadership and educational/research skills with managerial and professional responsibilities.


The post holder will have overall accountability for the day to day management of the registered practitioners, support workers and students in their team.

The post holder will practice at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical decision-making.

They will work as a highly specialised member of the inter-professional team to ensure that the needs of the patient are met at all times and that staffing is at an appropriate level to meet patient and service needs.

Standard Check:
£26 + Administration cost of £4.80 = £30.80. Deducted at £9.80 from 1st month salary and £7 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check:
£44 + administration cost of £4.80 = £48.80. Deducted at £15.80 from 1st month salary and £11 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
