Job Summary

To deliver comprehensive invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigation services within the Trust and local community as well as deputize for the Cardiac Physiologist Manager when needed.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Take a lead role in providing cardiology diagnostic services.
  • Perform cardiac diagnostic tests and generate detailed reports.
  • Support the development of a skilled workforce.
  • Lead training programs for junior physiologists.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and services to maintain high standards.
  • Conduct service audits and contribute to demand and capacity assessments.
  • Support departmental research activities.

  • Perform and document Echocardiogram studies.
  • Maintain Advance Life Support certification.
  • Provide technical assistance for echo studies.
  • Collaborate on stress echo studies with cardiologists.
  • Develop a skilled team of Cardiac Physiologists.
  • Conduct service audits and training programs.
Person Specification Qualifications and Training
  • BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology with Cardiac Specialism
  • UK Resus Council Immediate Life Support certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to further education in Cardiology.
Desirable
  • IBHRE - Cardiac devices, BSE certification, UK Resus Council Advanced Life Support
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Cardiac Department roles.
  • Proficient in non-invasive disciplines and cardiac procedures.
  • Knowledge in cardiac catheter lab, rhythm management, and related areas.
Desirable
  • Over 2 years as a band 6 Cardiac Physiologist with expertise in Echocardiography.
Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of cardiology and related procedures.
