We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to join one of our partner schools in the Durham area.

This is a mainstream school with an onsite unit that specialises in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties.

As an LSA working with children who have additional needs, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational, social and emotional development of these students.

You will work closely with the SEN team to implement individualised education plans, provide targeted support, and help create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with students to provide individualised support, including academic, social, and emotional support.
  • Assisting with the implementation of individualised education plans, as well as tracking and monitoring progress.
  • Working with the classroom teacher to adapt teaching materials and strategies to meet the needs of students.
  • Helping to maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment, including managing challenging behaviour when necessary.
  • Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding the progress of students.
  • Previous experience working with children with additional needs in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the needs of students.
  • A strong understanding of SEMH and strategies to support learning around this.
  • A willingness to learn and grow as a professional.

Salary:
£80.00-£97.00 per day
