Rotheram Carrington Recruitment Group are pleased to be handling the recruitment of a Part-Time Head of Finance job for a Group of Companies turning over in the region of £5m based on the outskirts of Chester.


Our Client is looking for a 'Hands On' Head of Finance from an SME background who has proven experience in running the finances of an owner manage business.

The group has several legal entities that include a variety of businesses, this role will be workingclosely with the Owner and Managing Director.

A big part of this role will be liaising with external stakeholders such as the banks, insurance, tax advisers and auditors to ensure good relationships and adherence to covenants, accepted practices, legal requirementsetc.

Also the successful person must have a strong commercial acumen as you will rent reviews and lease negotiations alongside the MD.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Production of monthly management accounts for all 6 entities
  • Manager a small team
  • Narrative & comparison/gap analysis of actual performance against budgets/forecasts
  • Generation of annual budgets and updated forecasts for all 6 entities
  • Cash flow management, incl overseeing debt collection and supplier payments
  • Overseeing invoice generation and purchase invoice procedures
  • Organise monthly payroll through bureau and all PAYE matters
  • Monthly and quarterly VAT returns
  • CIS submissions and management
  • Ensure all Crown debt
  • PAYE, VAT, Corporation Tax, Owners personal tax kept up to date
  • Company Secretarial
  • Commercial advice and support generally, including in relation to managing tenants, rent reviews, lease negotiations, purchasing operations etc.

Skills/Experience

  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA Qualified
  • SME background essential
  • Excellent communication skills essential as you will be dealing directly with the owners of the business
  • Hands on only 1 finance person reporting in to this role who looks after the ledger
  • Strong commercial acumen

Salary/Benefits
- £70,000 to £80,000 pro rata 3 days

  • Local to the Chester area, as ideally as it is only 3 days you would be expected to be in on these days, however there is flexibility on the days you are in the office
  • Free parking
  • 25 days holidays, plus banks (pro rata 3 days)
