Instrumentation Control Automation Engineer Apprentice

We have an exciting opportunity for a career-minded individual to join us at Thames Water as an ICA Technician. As the successful candidate will be working in a multi-disciplinary team, alongside a range of operational teams such as systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians.You will also be responsible for installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards, and to diagnose and repair faults on systems and plants. Proactively identifying and reporting follow on work or areas for enhancement and delivering cost-effective improvements to assets and systems.What you will be doing as an Instrumentation Automation and Control Apprentice (ICA) Apprentice:As an Instrumentation automation and control (ICA) Apprentice you'll be helping to control all the instruments and systems we have on our sites. You'll be working on the technology which monitors and controls all aspects of Thames Water's water and wastewater processes, and how they're performing across the network. Key Accountabilities:
- You will be responsible for installing, modifying and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards, and to diagnose and repair faults on systems and plants. Proactively identifying and reporting follow on work or areas for enhancement and delivering cost-effective improvements to assets and systems.
- You will be required to carry out instrumentation, control and automation maintenance on a variety of water production assets including planned maintenance and preventative and reactive maintenance. There will be a need to liaise with and supervise contractors and suppliers where necessary.
- You will conduct risk assessments and create appropriate method statements when required to safely carry out maintenance activities.
- You will be responsible for providing specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge and provide training support for technical trainees and support project development and input into capital delivery projects.
- You will also be fully trained to use Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems to make modifications to our processes to ensure that our sites perform at their very best.

- Due to the nature of the role, you will need to live a maximum of 30-40 minute journey from your base location.
- Competitive starting salary of £20,000 per annum.
