What will I learn through the apprenticeship programme?

With 30 years' experience of delivering market-leading repairs and maintenance services, Mears is trusted to deliver more than 6,000 repairs daily to a portfolio of more than 1,000,000 homes nationwide.

Mears Careers National Apprenticeship Scheme is designed to empower and challenge you; you will be trusted with real work and responsibility from the outset. During your apprenticeship you will have a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn and will receive formal training coupled with working alongside our skilled workforce who will inspire and train you in the practical elements of the trade. The Electrical Installation apprenticeship programme takes between 38 and 42 months to complete.

As an Electrical Engineer you will be involved in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems including, lighting, sockets, machines, and alarms etc. You will be able to provide our customers with products and services that help them have peace of mind by assisting them to understand how their appliances work and how to manage their energy usage efficiently.

The apprenticeship course will cover the following: - Apply Health and Safety and Environmental Legislation in the Building Services Engineering SectorEstablish and Maintain Good Working RelationshipsInstall Enclosures for Electrical Cables, Conductors and Wiring SystemsInstall and Connect Electrical Cables, Conductors, Wiring Systems and EquipmentInspect and Test Electrical Systems and EquipmentCommission Electrical Systems and EquipmentIdentify and Rectify Faults in Electrical Systems and EquipmentMaintain Electrical Systems and EquipmentFICA Final Integrated Competence Assessment At the end of your apprenticeship, you will achieve an Electrotechnical qualification and will have satisfied the requirements for registration as Eng Tech by the Engineering Council. What you need to have: Potential to work at SCQF level 7The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks. You must live in a commutable distance to independently travel to and from the branchStrong communication skills. Be able to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships. Candidates will need to have registered and undertaken the SECTT pre employment test
