Optimum Recruitment Group are proud to be working with this well-established business based on the outskirts of Pontefract, who are recruiting for a Ledger Clerk to join the team.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for managing both the purchase and sales ledgers.

This role would suit either an experienced ledger clerk or someone looking to start their career within accountancy, full training and AAT study supportwould be given.


Your duties will include:

  • Processing purchase invoices with accuracy and matching to purchase orders.
  • Processing business expenses immediately ready for payment.
  • Reconciliations of supplier statements.
  • Managing the accounts payable / receivable mailboxes.
  • Responding to suppliers and other daytoday queries.
  • Liaising with internal staff to resolve queries to obtain approval of invoices.
  • Daily posting and allocation of customer receipts.
  • Chasing overdue invoices for payment.
  • Sending out monthly statements to customers.
  • Taking card payments over the phone.
  • Supporting a colleague with completing weekly aged debtor reports.
  • Dealing with invoice queries in an effective, professional and timely manner.
You need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experiences to be considered:

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of sales and purchase ledger as an experienced applicant.
  • Good IT skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel.
  • Excellent numeracy skills and data entry skills.
- .Ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and good interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and strong team player.
  • A problem solver with the ability to assume responsibility and act on own initiative.
Salary up to £25k (depending on skills and experiences) plus benefits
