We are looking for an experienced project editor with trade editorial experience to join our team of editors working on Unbound's exciting and wide-ranging list of fiction, non-fiction and illustrated titles.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- Project manage up to 20 titles each year to the highest editorial standards, keeping to critical path and budget
- Take the lead on author communications throughout the editorial and production processes
- Liaise with inhouse departments including production, sales, publicity, marketing and design
- Commission and liaise with freelance structural editors, copyeditors, proofreaders and indexers, choosing the best team for the job, monitoring standards and keeping to budget
- Write creative briefs and salesminded copy
- Manage the legal review process where relevant
- Manage proof collation and the entire corrections process accurately and efficiently
- Manage the production of plate sections, maps and illustrations, and secure picture and text permissions and other approval processes as necessary
Requirements:
- 3+ years' trade editorial experience
- Excellent proofreading and copyediting skills
- Excellent copywriting skills
- Experience in communicating with authors and their agents
- Highly organised with an ability to set priorities within a busy workload
- Ability to work autonomously on projects as well as part of a larger team
- Enthusiasm for innovation and meeting new challenges
- Working knowledge of Consonance an advantage
Salary:
£30k per annum (dependent on experience)
