The National Specialist and Screening Directorate of PCF plans, funds and co-ordinates national specialist and screening services on behalf of NHS Boards and the Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates.

Within NSD, the specialist services team facilitates the consistent, effective and co-ordinated delivery of specialist and highly specialist services, through national co-ordination and commissioning.


The Post:


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team as a Programme Support Officer to support the coordination of the referral and funding arrangements for women who seek vaginal mesh removal surgery from independent providers.

This is a patient facing-role and people with experience of interacting with patients and/or care coordination are encouraged to apply.


The post holder will work closely with referring clinicians in Scotland and associated out of area teams, ensuring the timely movement and tracking of potential patients through the referral pathway.

They will also identify barriers to progress and resolve these or and escalate as appropriate. They will also facilitate the collection, analysis and presentation of activity data for oversight and reporting.


The post-holder will be a key member of the team and will also be expected to provide general programme and project management support across the team's portfolio as required.


  • You should be able to evidence:
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Experience of processing confidential information
  • Experience of dealing sensitively and tactfully with enquires from patients and clinicians
  • Ability to work to deadlines and priorities busy workloads
  • Experience of providing administrative support to services/programmes/projects, including meeting/event planning and minute taking.

Location and Working Pattern:


The base for the post will be Edinburgh at Gyle Square where the majority of NSD are based (with second office in Glasgow); however, this is a hybrid role with significant scope for working from home.


It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
