Main responsibilities

  • Responsible for the manufacture, maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and modifications of Plastic Injection Mould Tools and associated jigs and fixtures
  • Designing of tools and reviewing of tool GA's
  • Overseeing activities within the toolroom and TAR section and communicating progress to the wider business
  • Identify necessary repairs or possible improvements and make suggestions accordingly
  • Use 2D and 3D computer aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM)
  • Attend press breakdowns, identify fault and problem solve at the press if possible
  • Estimate length of time required to complete a job.
  • Test and confirm electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic operation of tools before return to production
  • Always maintain the highest standards of workmanship
  • Record all relevant data in relation to tooling and record on the Tool Room database
  • Support training needs of the department and provide expertise to apprentices and trainees.
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions

Person Specification

  • Good understanding of engineering/manufacturing principles
  • Proficient in VISI software is preferred.
  • Good understanding of properties and characteristics of common materials used in Plastic Injection Moulding
  • Good understanding of diagnostic methods and techniques used to help solve engineering/manufacturing problems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Structured problemsolving skills
  • Good use of MS Office suite
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Competent in programming CNC machines in both Heidenhain and Fanuc platforms
  • Capable in reading, interpreting, and following written engineering instructions
  • Practiced in working both independently and as part of a team
  • Experienced in working towards deadlines
  • Previous experience working in a similar role
  • Previous experience working within the Plastics Injection Moulding Industry
